Parent & Kids Zone

You’re never too young or too old to join our society, and we have members from all age groups - some who have introduced their children to the art of orchid culture, and some who have even introduced their parents to the hobby!

We’ve worked on a couple of fun activities for parents and kids to enjoy together, and to learn more about the fascinating hobby that is orchid growing.

BOS the youngest member Izzy

and her first Trophies:

The Colin Carter Trophy for the Novice Class and the Delia Hudson Memorial Cup for the best Coelogyne orchid (Coelogyne cristata).

Both won at The Spring Show 2022.

Orchid Card Template

We’ve created a downloadable ‘Orchid Card’ template for you to download and colour in.

Instructions:

We’ve set the card up with a Mother’s Day theme, however if you’d like to update the messaging simply open the template in Microsoft Word and edit the text.

Once you’re happy with the text, go ahead and print your blank card onto good quality A4 paper and colour in the front image. If you’d like to see what a real Miltoniopsis Maugant looks like, take a look at our gallery. Finally, once you have finished colouring in the front, fold the card in two, by making a crease between the central edge marks, to form an A5 card. Then write your message inside and you have a lovely Orchid card to sent to friends or family!

For other joint parent and kid’s events, why not come along to one of our shows, where many additional joint parent and children events are usually provided - all free of charge!

Please check that joint events are being provided at our next show before travelling.
